Meat Beat Manifesto Highlight Their Classic Sound on New Song “Pin Drop”

The electronic group Meat Beat Manifesto just released their newest song “Pin Drop” according to Flood Magazine. The track comes off their anticipated album Opaque Couché which will come out on May 10th of this year. The UK band is well known for their techno-influenced songs and has played with and opened for various well-known bands including Nine Inch Nails and The Chemical Brothers among others.

“Pin Drop” begins with a fast paced and tight rhythm on drums that acts as the foundation on which the rest of the song builds off of. The main rhythm is elaborated on as slight and tasteful distortions are added in sparingly. Off and on different sounds are quickly added in and then taken out of the song one at a time as to not overwhelm the listener. These different sounds include random vocals, an ominous ringing, static, and other electric sounds. The various sections of the song feel as though they visit and leave freely. It’s clear that “Pin Drop” was constructed very carefully as it provides a dynamic range of sounds yet does not overload listeners with a rich layering of harmonies. Here’s the song below:

Meat Beat Manifesto is known for their classic drum and bass sound and has led the way as one of the most versatile electronic groups out their. MBM can’t be pinned down into one niche grouping of electronic as the group plays around with dubstep, techno, jazz fusion and more. Their ability to master a number of electronic sub genres can be heard in popular songs like “Psyche-Out,” “Radio Babylon,” and “Asbestos Lead Asbestos.” The members of the group consist of Jack Dangers, Lynn Farmer, Mark Pistel, and Benjamin Stokes.

“Pin Drop” is a fantastic example of what Meat Beat Manifesto is capable of. The song is a promising taste of what fans can expect from Opaque Couché.
