As the gap between the Misfits reunion shows is large, the band’s frontman Glenn Danzig has kept himself busy by filling in those gaps with his own projects, one a “vampire Spaghetti-Western film,” and the other being an album full of Elvis Presley covers.
According to Consequence of Sound, the legendary rockstar refuses to reveal all the details just yet. Glenn Danzig plans on writing and directing the new film project he’s taken. The forthcoming album has been a long-awaited project by the fans, as Danzig himself has talked about this project for a while.
A post was made on Danzig’s official Facebook page, he stated the long-awaited “DANZIG Sings ELVIS” covers record has now been scheduled for a Fall release. We will post the cover & tracks in the coming weeks. Mr. DANZIG has also just put the finishing touches on the script for his next film which will be a vampire Spaghetti-Western & DANZIG will direct. Casting will begin shortly… Busy year for the Man!!”
For years, Danzig has made it abundantly clear how much Evis has made an impact on his musical journey. “Elvis is actually kind of how I got into music,” Glenn told Rolling Stone back in 2015. “When I was a kid, I was cutting school pretending I was sick and I would lie at home watching old movies, and Jailhouse Rock came on with Elvis. I was, like, ‘I want to do this. This is great.’ And that’s how I veered to music.”
In terms of sticking as a unit, Misfits have two 2019 shows full of an “Original Misfits” lineup. The first performance is on April 27th at the Allstate arena in Rosemont, IL and June 29th at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
