Pop star Lana Del Rey has released a ton of promotional material for her upcoming album Norman Fucking Rockwell, from 10 minute guitar epics such as “Venice Bitch,” to acoustic songs such as “Happiness is Butterfly.” Although these tracks have already given her fans a large amount of anticipation, Del Rey has just released another untitled song on Instagram for her eager fans.

This latest track is a piano ballad, featuring Del Rey’s somber vocals over melancholic piano chords as she croons about emotional insecurities and intimacy. “You don’t ever have to be stronger than you really are when you’re lying in my arms baby. You don’t ever have to go faster than your fastest pace or faster than my fastest cars,” the lyrics state.

Although Norman Fucking Rockwell is finished it is unknown when the album is set to be released, however some info about the concepts have been released. Del Rey partnered with Jack Antonoff of Bleachers’ fame for the project which will be utilizing several different concepts.

“Working with Jack, I was in a little bit of a lighter mood because he was so funny,” Del Rey explained in an interview. “So the title track is called ‘Norman F—ing Rockwell’ and it’s kind of about this guy who is such a genius artist, he thinks he’s the sh– and he knows it and he won’t shut up talking about it. So often I ended up with these creative types — or not, or whatever — and they just go on and on about themselves and I’m like yeah, yeah. But there’s a little bit of merit to it, also. They are so good. I just like the title track so much that I was like OK, I definitely want the record to also be called that.”

Track’s such as “Venice Bitch,” are also conceptually pushing the boundaries both musically and conceptually for Del Rey. As a 10-minute track featuring blistering electric guitar solos, Del Rey sought to use the track to epitomize the end of summer, a sort of antithesis to typical summer pop hits.

“I played it for my managers and I was like, ‘yeah, I think this is the single I want to put out.’ And they were like, ‘it’s 10 minutes long. Are you kidding me?’ It’s called ‘Venice Bitch.’” Del Rey explained regarding the track. “Like why do you do this to us? Can you make a three-minute normal pop song? I was like, ‘well, end of summer, some people just wanna drive around for 10 minutes, get lost in some electric guitar.’”

Del Rey made an appearance last month at the Buku Music and Arts festival alongside A$AP Rocky and Death Grips.
