Mike McCready from Pearl Jam will join legendary rockstars for the inaugural Peak to Sky concert in Big Sky, Montana on July 6, 2019. Performances include McCready plus Guns N’ Roses, Duff McKagen, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer and Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, as well as Brandi Carlile. The musicians will create a special day for their fans. The show will be set under the backdrop of 11,166-foot Lone Peak in Big Sky, Montana.
Tickets go on sale April 19 with further details on the concert forthcoming. McCready said, “I love playing music with Chad Smith, Duff McKagan and Josh Klinghoffer. I am stoked to play with Taylor Hawkins too. Asking Brandi Carlile to be a part of this event was a no brainer,” McCready, a part-time Big Sky resident, told Explore Big Sky. “This show is going to be awesome and I am looking forward to the town of Big Sky and the surrounding area coming out to rock with us. Maybe this can turn into something that lasts.”
McCready and Duff McKagen recently joined forces in the summer of 2018, to save a Seattle music venue that has served the area for nearly eight decades. Involved in spearheading the mission were Washington natives, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, McKagan of Guns n’ Roses, Macklemore, and McCready of Pearl Jam.
McCready also performed with Temple of the Dog at The Chris Cornell Tribute in January 2019. Temple of the Dog features Jeff Ament on bass, Stone Gossard and McCready on guitar and Matt Cameron on drums. They played several of the band’s most well-known songs, and many were written as a direct response to the death of Andrew Wood so many decades ago.
Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and singer/songwriter and Grammy Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings will be on tour this year to promote McKagan’s upcoming solo album Tenderness. The tour kicks off on May 30th in Philadelphia, PA at the Theatre of the Living Arts, hitting stops like New York City at Irving Plaza and San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. The tour will come to a stop in Seattle at The Showbox venue. Prior to the tour, McKagan and Jennings are expected to deliver a special performance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on April 4th.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers just performed in front of Egyptian pyramids in Giza where Josh Klinghoffer, the band’s guitarist covered Radioheads, “Pyramid Song” on the piano while performing in front of an actual pyramid. The band’s performance in Giza was both iconic and ironic, making steps towards a new performance style.
The Foo Fighters are set to play at Louisville, Kentucky’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival on Sept 20-22, 2019. They will be performing with John Fogerty, Daryl Hall & John Oates, ZZ Top and many more bands. The Foo Fighters also performed at the ‘I Am The Highway’ tribute to Chris Cornell which took place in January 2019 at The Forum in Inglewood.
