Rock band Roxy Music has been confirmed to perform at the upcoming 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Frontman Bryan Ferry stated that the group would not be playing together in its entirety, as members Brian Eno and Paul Thompson would not be able to attend. That said, founding members Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera will be performing alongside Ferry. This is not the only recent announcement by Bryan Ferry, as the musician stated he would be going on tour at the end of July for Roxy Music’s 1982 album Avalon. Aside from simply performing at the event, Roxy Music is also one of the acts being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Among the other performers being honored this year are legendary rock bands Def Leppard and The Cure, as well as singers Janet Jackson and Stevie Nicks.
The performers being inducted into the hall of fame were taken from a longer list of nominees, with those to actually be inducted being chosen through a series of measures; including an online ballot where fans could vote for their favorite acts. Induction into the hall is a big achievement for many performers, indicating a lasting impact on the music industry over their career. In order to be nominated for induction, a performer or group has to have released their first music at least 25 years prior to nomination. The ceremony itself will be conducted at the end of March, with a broadcasted version of the event to be aired by HBO at a later date.
