If you’re looking to start your summer a bit early, here’s your chance: Passion Pit will be headlining a show at Pier 17 on May 19th and May 21st, with The Beaches coming along to support. Tickets are going fast, but will run you $40 for General Admission spots, with a GA-VIP ‘pre-show experience’ (including a private Q&A with Angelakos himself) costing $119 a pop. Doors for this show will open at 6:30pm, and the show will start an hour later at 7:30pm. Oh, and bring your kids, folks – this show is for all ages.
This performance by Passion Pit is sure to be a special one. These Pier 17 shows are part of Passion Pit’s larger tour celebrating the ten-year anniversary of their very first album, titled Manners. Manners was quite the beginning for the group, as it sparked the near-cult following and foundation for their second record, Gossamer, to reach no. 4 on the Billboard 200 after its release in 2012. Since then, they’ve essentially become a face for the ‘indietronica’ subculture, crafting infectious pop hits – some of which managed to transition into the mainstream as well (namely “Take A Walk,” “Carried Away,” and “Sleepyhead,” amongst others).
Warming up for Passion Pit on these two nights will be The Beaches, a quartet of alt-rock goodness hailing from Toronto, Ontario. After signing with Island Records in 2016, the group released their first full-length album Late Show in 2017. Music from The Beaches offers a welcome contrast from Passion Pit’s heavily electronic-leaning sound; before jamming to synth beats, the crowd will surely be head-banging to fuzzy summer jams like “Turn Me On” and “T-Shirt.” If you’re going to this show, be sure to get there early so as to not miss this gem of a group.
