In their latest music video, New York-based musical duo Sofi Tukker transports viewers into a fantasy world that is features some incredible landscapes and scenery. The music video sees Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern decked out in glamorous, shiny costumes reminiscent of the Australian electronic duo Empire of the Sun, as they go on an adventure to locate a mysterious totem or object in a river channel. The duo’s latest music video is for their hit song “Fantasy,” which is a an audience favorite at the band’s live shows. Through the song, Sofi Tukker have displayed their evolution as artists, with its “atemporal quality” that features “collaging elements of the 90s Euro-pop classics”. The music video was directed by Charles Todd in Mexico, which is “one of the first places [Sofi Tukker] ever played” and is a place where they “really resonate with the people and the landscape.”
Speaking on the video, Sofi Tukker states, “we are on a journey to realize our fantasies, and we have to overcome obstacles to get there, but where we finally reach the goal, we instantly get transported to another world.”
Sofi Tukker is known for their inclusive style of electronic music that features themes like unity and self-empowerment. In the past, they have been nominated for a number of Grammy’s including Best Dance Recording for their debut single, “Drinkee,” as well as Best Dance/Electronic Album for Treehouse. The duo is slated to perform at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
