Gorillaz’s own Damon Albarn’s project Africa Express has released a new four-song EP called MOLO. “Molo” is “hello” in the South African language Xhosa, indicating that it is serving as a welcome to Albarn’s project. Africa Express is primarily focused on shining a light on African music, and the new EP shows just a glimpse into all that Albarn wants to accomplish.

Each of the four electronic style tracks on the album features various African artists, and each feature various styles while remaining mainly electronic. “Nayena” opens the EP, followed by “No Games,” which features some rap verses, “Xhosa” which references the language that inspired the album title, and then “Vessels,” which features a xylophone throughout.
According to Consequence of Sound, the EP is a precursor to a full-length album coming summer 2019. Albar and Africa Express flew to South Africa to create the album, will feature the talents of musicians like Gruff Rhys, Mr. Jukes, Blk Jks, and Infamous Boiz. Albarn’s Africa Express was recently accused of exploitation by two UK based musicians. You can listen to the EP and watch the promotional video below.
