Kool Keith and Metal Supergroup Dead Cross collaborated on an upcoming EP. The release features two new songs from the outlandish MC, “Blast” and “Uncrushable” in addition to an alternative version of each. Other features on the EP include Planet B’s remix of “Blast” and a mash-up of “Uncrushable” and “Church of the Motherfuckers,” which is a 2017 track from Dead Cross. Dead Cross is the hardcore supergroup featuring Faith No More singer Mike Patton, ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, Planet B’s Justin Pearson and guitarist Michael Crain.
“Uncrushable” blasts Lombardo’s rapid-fire kick-drums and Patton’s mad shrieks while adding live-wire intensity. The song also features Crain’s trilling guitar line contrasting perfectly with Keith’s laid-back delivery. The track is the result of producer and beat-maker Luke Henshaw, Person’s partner in Planet B.
When discussing the paring with Dead Cross, Keith said, “The weirder the better man, the weirder the better.”
Additionally, the Dead Cross’ vocalist gave his stamp of approval on the project. He said when talking about the collaboration, “As odd as it is, it seems like the perfect match of musical absurdity, which is something this world needs.”
Kool Kieth’s “Blast” b/w “Uncrushable” EP is available March 29th from Pearson’s Three One G label.
