Gnarlytown: Bikes, Boards and Bands Festival is a show like no other. With amped up music and sports, legendary punk rockers, Pennywise, Rancid, Action Bronson, Off! and Madball will kick off the show, along with extreme action sports and craft beer tasting at the Port of Los Angeles on Saturday, June 22. The general admission pass costs $49.99 with VIP pass going for $109.99.
Various action sport athletes will be at the event, including motorsports champion, Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus and pro skateboarder Chris Cole’s Rail Jam Invitational. The event will have craft beer tastings from some of the finest breweries in SoCal. Gnarlytown is open to all ages, kids 5 and under get in free along with paid adult admission.
Pennywise’s Fletcher Dragge offers, “‘Gnarlytown’…guess the name says it all!! San Pedro has always been a town known for its rough edge…and on June 22nd we’re gonna crank that edge up a couple notches. What happens when you combine punk rock, rap, and hardcore bands on a pier with Travis Pastrana’s insanely demented Nitro Circus, and add a dose of Chris Cole’s infamous rail jam contest??? You get a crazy f’ing day full of music mayhem and more.”
In the summer of 2018, Pennywise performed “Bro Hymn” at the final Vans Warped Tour where fans joined in on this legendary song. In March 2017, Pennywise performed at the Hollywood Palladium for three nights, doing all three albums from the early 90’s. Pennywise frontman, Jim Lindberg said back in 2017, “These are the albums that established our band as part of the whole, for lack of a better word, ‘extreme’ sports and music revolution that continues to this day.”
Famous motorsports competitor Travis Pastrana says, “Crazy shenanigans and great music have always gone together well. I’m stoked to have the opportunity to ride in front of what’s sure to be a packed house and a great time.” The Rail Jam Invitational will feature some of the top skateboarders, including Ryan Sheckler, Tom Asta, Chris Josli and more. Cole says, “Skateboarding and music are all about energy; it’s also a great experience for the skaters to be around the music and a great opportunity for the festivalgoers to enjoy something extra.”
Rancid released their 9th studio album, Trouble Maker in June 2017. The album contains 19 tracks and was produced by Bad Religion frontman, Brett Gurewitz. The album is Rancid’s first full-length release since their 2014 album Honor is All We Know.
