Indie music group Broken Social Scene has announced its next project, Let’s Try The After – Vol 2. The EP will be a sequel to Broken Social Scene’s February release, Let’s Try The After – Vol 1. A large collection of Canadian musicians, Broken Social Scene is far less of a traditional band than most groups, comprising of up to 17 members at some points. By melding together the artistry of so many musicians the group is able to create a completely unique sound. The new EP is set to release on April 12th, just in time for an exclusive vinyl release on Record Store Day on April 13th. The vinyl release will feature both volumes of Let’s Try The After and will only be available in certain stores.
Broken Social Scene is one of the most unique music outfits around today, collaborating with a large amount of artists over the group’s twenty year career. Membership to the collective has ranged from only 2 performers to nearly 20 at the group’s largest. First put together in the early 2000s, Broken Social Scene consisted of members of a few different Toronto based musicians who eventually put out their debut album in 2003. The album, titled You Forgot It In People, spawned what is still one of the band’s most famous songs; “Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl.” Since then the group has consistently released wonderfully unique indie music, owing much of its success to the diverse and creative ideas present in the band’s roster. The Let’s Try The After series is one of Broken Social Scene’s most interesting projects yet to date, with fans now anxiously awaiting volume two.
Along with the announcement of Let’s Try The After – Vol 2, the group also released the first single from the upcoming project. The track, titled “Can’t Find My Heart,” is an electronic rock song that relies on a variety of powerful instrumental performances to carry it along. If the single is any indication of the rest of the EP, fans of Broken Social Scene will love the new project just as much as the group’s last.
