Earl Sweatshirt @ Emo’s 5/1

Releasing his first mixtape Earl at 16 years old, Thebe Kgositsile – also known as Earl Sweatshirt – has helped defined this era of hip-hop and rap. Once a member of Tyler the Creator’s group Odd Future, much of Earl Sweatshirt’s music is melancholy and wrath with hard topics like mental health, the death of a parent, and politics.

Light on instrumentals and heavy on lyricism, Earl Sweatshirt combines niche influences from artists like MF Doom and Cam’ron into a more accessible and universal sound. Evident in his two Billboard 200 charting albums Doris (2013) and I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside (2015), Earl’s R&B, hip-hop, rap coalescence appeals to the masses.

Earl Sweatshirt and Friends will be at Emo’s Wednesday May 1st for the FIRE IT UP! Tour. VIP Packages are already sold out, but GA tickets are still on sale starting at $27. Don’t miss your chance to see one of the best lyricists of our generation.
