Fresh off of the release of the incredible The Wall (Redux), Magnetic Eye Recordings is back at it again, this time with a tribute to the original stoner metal band, Black Sabbath. The tribute will be a song-by-song cover album of the classic Sabbath album Vol. 4, the 1972 album which includes songs like “Changes” and “Tomorrow’s Dream.”
So far most of the full roster of bands have not yet been announced (with one exception). These include New Orleans doom metal superstars Thou, Ozzy’s former guitarist Zakk Wylde’s Sabbath cover band Zakk Sabbath, long-running Wisconsin stoner metal band Bongzilla, even longer-running metal band The Obsessed, plus Spirit Adrift, Whores, High Reeper, Tony Reed and Haunt. Thou will open up the album with their take on “Wheels of Confusion / The Straightener,” Zakk Wylde will close out the album with “Under the Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes” and High Reeper will handle the most recognizable song from the record, “Changes.”
The Wall (Redux) was released in 2018 and featured contributions from Pallbearer, Melvins and Mark Lanegan. Lanegan covered “Nobody’s Home” and Pallbearer covered “Run Like Hell,” while we premiered Sasquatch’s take on “Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2.”
The album can be pre-ordered on the Magnetic Eyeball Recordings website and is available in a variety of formats. These include a limited edition CD digipak, a classic black vinyl LP, a limited edition colored vinyl LP, a bundle that includes all formats (CD, LP and digital) and a deluxe bundle with CD, limited edition colored LP and digital release, a test pressing bundle (test pressing LP, CD, classic black LP and digital album) and a deluxe test pressing bundle (test pressing LP, CD, limited edition color LP and digital album).

UPDATE (4/8): Due to the overwhelmingly positive reaction of the news of Magnetic Eye’s upcoming Vol. 4 (Redux) tribute album, the label has announced an expansion of the release with popular heavy bands covering the greatest hits of Black Sabbath. While the goal of the Kickstarter campaign was to raise $5,500 they ended up with over $25,000 in contributions. This is similar to the last tribute compilation from Magnetic Eye, The Wall (Redux).
Earthless and Dead Witches are among the bands that have been announced for the greatest hits cover album, as well as Chad I Ginsburg and Jess Margera of CKY teaming up with James Rota and Scott Reeder of Fireball Ministry. Summoner, Elephant Tree, Ironweed, Owl. Rwake, Mooner, Year Of The Cobra, Leather Lung, Brume and Caustic Casanova will also contribute.
