Santana has graced the general public with his brand new song “Los Invisibles.” The new song serves as the lead single from the band’s upcoming album Africa Speaks. The new song features the full band, including Carlos Santana’s’ wife Cindy Backman Santana on drums and Spanish singer Buika. Check out the new song below.
Africa Speaks serves as the follow up to their three-song EP In Search of Mona Lisa, released in January. Mr. Carlos Santanar recently sat down with Rolling Stone, discussing the upcoming album, which was originally named Global Revelation and includes production from Rick Rubin. “I went to Rick to see if he would, as Miles Davis would say, ‘Would you have eyes to do something with me?’” He continued to say “‘I know you’ve worked with everybody like Johnny Cash and the Chili Peppers and Metallica,’ And he goes, ‘Well, what are you interested in doing?’ I said, ‘Nothing but African music.’ So can you believe it?
Both Rubin and Santana recorded over 49 songs in a span of two weeks and mentioned that he only wanted two women on the record, Laura Mvula, and Buika. Santana will also have a pretty busy summer, as the band will be hitting the road with The Doobie Brothers, playing amphitheaters across the U.S. and will also be performing at the Bethel Wood’s half-centennial fest in celebration of Woodstock’s 50th anniversary as well as reportedly playing the festival under the same name, along with rumored acts Imagine Dragons, Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper, Miley Cyrus, The Raconteurs, The Killers, and Dead & Company.
