This summer, American singer-songwriter Ben Folds and folk punk icons Violent Femmes will be embarking on a special co-headlining tour that will take place from July 28 to August 16. Folds is a major influence in the music industry, have put out several pop albums with his band, Ben Folds Five, a handful of solo albums and EPs, and even scores for television and film. General tickets have already been released for sale and can be purchased at either artists’ website, here or here.
The tour marks the second tour that Violent Femmes will be co-headlining, with the first being alongside punk rock greats X in spring. The band were forerunners in the 1980s punk scene, with their debut self-titled album hitting the Billboard charts with a platinum certification eight years after its release.
The co-headlining tour begins on July 28 at the very grand Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Folds and Violent Femmes will play at several notable locations like the Ascend Amphitheatre in Nashville, Tennessee and the Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Detroit, Michigan. The tour will end at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri on August 16.
Apart from his personal music, Folds has also been actively performing with symphony orchestras over the world, having been given the title of Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra in 2017. His talents do not stop there, as he has a book scheduled for a July 2019 release titled, “A Dream About Lightning Bugs – A Life of Music and Cheap Lessons”. In September last year, Folds wrote a new song for the Washington Post about Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that can be listened to here.
