The good folks at independent record store Waterloo Records have announced their annual day party series. These events, though a bit removed from the central hub of sixth street, are always a ton of fun and easy alternative to the insane lines you might find elsewhere. Plus, it’s never a band thing to support an independent record store! Once upon a time we even were able to a see a brief performance by Iggy and the Stooges at this event. This year, their lineup is stacked with a bevy of acts from across the music map.
Wednesday particularly, will feature acts Jamie N Commons, Frankie and the Witch Fingers and the Illuminati Hotties (you have to love that name). This day will have a headlining set by the unmistakable Steve Earle. If you’re not familiar with Steve Earle, do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with the wonderful Americana that he can do like no one else in modern times. (TV fans may even remember him for his small but pivotal role in the masterpiece HBO series The Wire).
Thursday’s lineup will open with indie pop act Morgxn. After that, the afternoon will feature sets from Mansionair, Priests, Death By Unga Bunga (nothing charming about that name) and the psycho rock act The Bright Light Social Hour. Lastly, on Friday the bill features SYML, Mike Krol, Viagra Boys and The Chills. This event is free and open to the public. That’s right: no badges, RSVP or wristbands necessary for this one folks. So what’s your excuse? Get on down to Waterloo Records and party!
Wednesday 3/13 through Friday 3/15 at Waterloo Records 600A N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78703
