After a five year hiatus, Houses returns to the mainstream music scene with their newest single “Fast Talk” on their EP Drugstore Heaven. Following sophomore album A Quiet Darkness in 2013, singer-songwriter and producer Dexter Tortoriello spent much of his time working on sounds from Martin Garrix to Kali Uchis to Lil Yachty.
Tortoriello is just half of the Houses duo, with partner Megan Messina also contributing to the synthetic pop sound. With experience in the industry producing hip-hop and pop vibes, Tortoriello and Messina’s music is universally relatable with captivating melancholy undertones. Synthetic beats, electronic tunage, and catchy hooks mix nicely with the duo’s vocals.
Most recently though, Houses’ newest EP Drugstore Heaven centralizes on Tortoriello’s vocals rather than a semi-equal presence from the two multi-talented artists as in previous works like All Night and A Quiet Darkness. Although Houses has made some changes to their music, their overall somber chillness remains in tact. Don’t miss your chance to witness Houses’ musical revival at Stubb’s with Hozier-like, opening act – BAD CHILD.
