It’s been a year since last full-length album from prolific Australian psychedelic collective King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard in 2017. For those unacknowledged, they dropped Flying Microtonal Banana, Murder of the Universe, Sketches of Brunswick East, Polygondwanaland and Gumboot Soup in only one year. The music-workaholics confirmed they will drop the newest album Fishing for Fishies on this April 26 via ATO/Fightless Records. With the name, it is known that the Australian rock band promises their fans’ waiting won’t be in vain.
As a first listen, the group previously released “Cyboogie” as their very first album. After that, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have shared the video for the record’s stream single, “Fishing For Fishies”. With the wildly experimental outlook that reaches from synth prog to folk rock, the creative and carefree performance in the witty music video directed by Jason Galea lures listeners to dance. It’s definitely a me-time moment, a time for you to click the video (watch it below) and relax nerves after long day work.
Reported by Consequence of Sounds, frontman Stu Mackenzie stated the story behind the works: “We tried to make a blues record,” “A blues-boogie-shuffle-kinda-thing, but the songs kept fighting it – or maybe it was us fighting them. Ultimately though we let the songs guide us this time; we let them have their own personalities and forge their own path. Paths of light, paths of darkness. This is a collection of songs that went on wild journeys of transformation.”
Not only the band will kick off their U.S tour in August (press HERE for tickets), they also show more sincerity about Fishing for Fishies coming out with some Artworks, which includes:
- Fishing For Fishies
- Boogieman Sam
- The Bird Song
- Plastic Boogie

- This Thing
- Acarine
- Cyboogie
