Massive Attack, the incredible trip-hop group has postponed their North America and Canada tour until October, according to Pitchfork. The tour celebrated their twenty years since the groundbreaking release of the album Mezzanine. Mezzanine has been an influential album ever since its release in 1998 and played a big role on the trip-hop genre. The band has been on their European tour since January 19th, but will not tour North America until the fall. The first three months of their tour Massive Attack was able to perform in Glasgow, London, Barcelona and many other big cities across Europe.
The legendary group has decided to hold off on performing in North America due to someone’s illness, but it is unclear what it is and how severe it may be. Many sources are not sure what the illness is or who it is affecting. The group has decided to prolong the tour dates until October of 2019 due to the illness.
On March 11th, the band was supposed to perform in Montreal, Canada and conclude the tour on April 2nd in San Diego, California. Massive Attack’s tour included thirteen shows from Radio City Music Hall in New York to the Bill Graham in San Francisco. The trio is still supposedly performing on April 6th at the Ceremonia Festival in Toluca, Mexico. The Ceremonia Festival will include many renowned artists from across the world including, Pussy Riot to Aphex Twin.
The press release made it clear that all tickets that have already been purchased will be transferable for the later tour dates and Massive Attack is sincerely sorry for the inconvenience. The tour will still include the singer Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins and songs from their masterpiece, Mezzanine. Massive Attack’s incredible performances will have to be seen at a later date but are still in the near future. The full statement of what is to come for Massive Attack’s U.S and Canada tour will be announced on March 14th.
