Guitar duo Rodrigo and Gabriela have shared the title track off their forthcoming album “Mettavolution,”along with a video that showcases the two in a studio session. This new track showcases both of the artists excellent guitar work, creating an uptempo tune while exploring various nuances across their respective guitar’s fretboards.
The video accompanying this single is similar in style to the video for their track “Cumbe,” which was released back in August of last year. This video style gives an intimate look into the guitarists playing style, and recording sessions, which come across as energetic and enjoyable as both artists who love their craft make the most out of their instruments.
“Since the ‘official audio’ was gonna be out before the ‘official video,’ we wanted to share with you the way we are practicing and getting ready for the ‘Mettavolution’ tour which is us playing to our own album in our studio,” the band mentioned in a press release. “This way we get used to the original tempo and the dynamics etc.”
Earlier this year the duo released a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes,” off the band’s 1971 album Meddle, which received a large amount of critical acclaim, especially for that signature track. This effort featured lyrical contributions from every member and began to cement the band as one of the most prominent progressive rock groups, prior to the release of their most famous work Dark Side of the Moon.
“The track, especially the life in Pompeii version means a lot to us, we even made a huge visual reference in our video for ‘Hanuman,” the band explained. “The lyrics are even more relevant now than they were 45 years ago, the search for knowledge about ourselves, it’s becoming a key element for survival these days, that what evolution is all about at the end of the day.”
Both of the artists recruited Dave Sardy to help them with the record so they could nail precisely the right sound they wanted. Sardy has worked with many prominent musical acts including Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Johnny Cash.
“Everything was ready for it, all the circumstances around the idea of agreeing to work with a producer came together right at the time we talked to Sardy,” the band explained. “And out intuition was right. We talked to a lot of great producers before him but the conditions just weren’t there. When we talked to Dave it just felt we had arrived.”
Both of the artists are currently busy with their Spring 2019 tour which will launch next month, during the peak music festival season across the US. They will embark on a world tour that begins in Munich, Germany and will go all the way to Bayfield, Wisconsin.
They will also be performing at the Beale Street Music Festival alongside acts such as Chvrches, The Killers and Atlanta rapper Big Boi. The festival is set to take place in the heart of Memphis Tennessee a well regarded music center in the US.
