RIP: Keith Flint, Vocalist of The Prodigy Dead at 49

Keith Flint, vocalist of The Prodigy, has died at the age of 49, according to The Guardian. He was found just after 8 a.m. on Monday at his home in Essex.

The Prodigy released a statement confirming Flint’s death this morning. Fellow band member Liam Howlett also took to Instagram, stating that Flint took his own life.

“We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner,” an Essex police spokesman said.

Flint, one of the U.K.’s most iconic figures of the 1990s, joined The Prodigy as a dancer. He later became the group’s frontman, alongside rapper Maxim.

Flint sang on many of the band’s most well-known singles, including “Firestarter” and “Breathe.” Both songs went to No. 1 in 1996.

The Prodigy has remained active since their 1992 debut, having released No Tourists in November of 2018. Read our review here.

The music world mourns the loss of this pioneer and legend, and sends thoughts and prayers to those close to him. It is truly a tragedy to lose such a talented, bright, and innovative star.
