Led by Austin’s homegrown, Jessica Pyrdsa, Datura promises a unique and collaborative performance experience that is not to miss. Datura is infamous for rotating out their three-piece ensemble with a cast of seasoned musicians comfortable with their craft, so every set is literally something new. The genre-bending group mixes soul, jazz, R&B, and pop to emit a purely otherworldly vibe.
Releasing their first studio album in 2016, the group is now working on their second album which is set to release later this year. With an emphasis on piano and Pyrdsa’s vocals, Datura’s music is reminiscent of a mix between Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, with a sprinkle of Lily Allen. One night a month the band plays at the Historic Scoot Inn at 8:30 for free, so don’t miss your chance to experience the one-of-a-kind jazzy piano ensemble.
Nik Parr will be opening for the night. Parr is a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist and leader of the band The Selfless Lovers, a rock and roll band with a touch of the blues.
