Diplo the ever popular DJ, producer and co-creator of Major Lazer, announced that he will be playing Stagecoach Country Music Festival’s inaugural after party. Dubbed “Late Night In Palomino,” the night will extend the party past it’s normal end time. Diplo is a member of the supergroup LSD, with Sia and Labrinth also working with producer and DJ Skrillex as part of the electronic duo Jack, as well as on Silk City with Mark Ronson.
The Stagecoach Music Festival will take place April 26-28, 2019 in Indio, California. The show will feature dozens of the most amazing artists including Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Jesse James Decker and many more. A 3-day general admission pass is going for $369.00, tickets available here.
His videos have a massive following, in fact the song, “Get it Right” with MØ has over 29 million views. The two dance in unison in a beautifully choreographed manner in a ballroom setting. In the video for “Wish” with Trippie Redd the song has reached 35 million views. Diplo says, “I met Trippie at a party in LA. he was like me kinda chilling on the side and I was really interested in making a song.. we traded a few calls and linked up in the studio one day and made Wish.”
Diplo is also set to perform at Hangout Music Festival in Alabama May 17-19 with Travis Scott, Vampire Weekend, Kygo, The 1975, Cardi B, Jimmy Eat World and Bishop Briggs. Diplo, also known as Thomas Wesley Pentz Jr. founded and manages record company Mad Decent and co-founded the non-profit organization Heaps Decent. His 2013 EP, Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the US Billboard 200.
During his rise to fame, Diplo worked with British musician M.I.A., an artist who is credited with giving him exposure in his early career. Later, he and fellow M.I.A. producer Switch created a Jamaican dancehall project and cartoon series titled Major Lazer. Since then, Diplo has also worked with Gwen Stefani, M.I.A., Die Antwoord, Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Trippie Redd, Chris Brown, CL, G-Dragon, Bad Bunny, and Poppy.
His alias, short for Diplodocus, derives from his childhood fascination with dinosaurs. In 2009, he was nominated for his first Grammy Award for Record of the Year for “Paper Planes” shared with M.I.A., Switch. He was then nominated for a second Grammy Award in 2012, for Best Rap Song for “Look at Me Now” shared with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.
Diplo was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2013 and 2016 in the category Producer of the Year, Non-Classic. In 2016, he won Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album for krillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü and Best Dance Recording for “Where Are Ü Now”. In 2019, he won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for “Electricity”.
