Nuclear Blast, the independent record label with a largely heavy metal background, has just announced the signing of Khemmis. The doom metal band out of Denver, Colorado consists of Daniel Beiers, Zach Coleman, Phil Pendergast, and Ben Hutcherson, and were formed in 2012. Khemmis was previously signed to 20 Buck Spin, with whom they released their third studio album, Absolution that made Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 Albums of the Year in 2015.
Khemmis’ worldwide signing with Nuclear Blast is a major move for the band, whose 2018 album Desolation was well-received by fans and critics. Addressing their latest signing, Khemmis expressed their excitement in “[joining] the Nuclear Blast roster alongside so many legendary artists.” The band is also excited that Nuclear Blast shares “[their] vision for the future.” Khemmis also took the chance to thank Dave Adelson from 20 Buck Spin, who “became a true friend and brother to [the band] over the last few years.”
Khemmis has been working on new projects and are slated to tour in 2019. The band has been receiving wide praise for their works over the past few years, with their second album, Hunted, being included in Rolling Stone’s “20 Best Albums of 2016” list and earning Decibel Magazine’s Album of the Year. Their release of Desolation last year also exemplified the quartet’s progressive sound and soulfully heavy style, with tracks like “Isolation,” “Bloodletting,” and the nine-minute long “From Ruin.”
