The record label Heavy Psych Sounds, has made a legendary announcement, for their first time ever, the influential independent rock label will be launching a small music festival, across four US Cities, in California and Texas. These shows, which will take place in Los Angeles on May , San Francisco from May 4-5, Dallas on May 10 and Austin, Texas on May 11 will feature the like of Red Fang, Yawning Man and Mothership among many others.
Headquartered in Rome, Italy, Heavy Psych sounds is well-known for releasing music by artists and genres which are difficult to come across with other independent labels. Genres that have been released by the label include heavy psych, doom, fuzz blues and space rock.
“Being able to finally launch the U.S. version of Heavy Psych Sounds Fest is a dream true,” says label owner Gabriele Fiore in a press release. “We’ve been working for a long time to properly break into the U.S. market and this is a clear sign that the hard work is paying off.”
Finding an audience in the states for this festival has not been easy task according to the record label, although they have landed performances in areas such as the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands in the past. However, this year they have been able to land several US based bands such as Red Fang and Fatso Jetson for these tour dates.
“We have so many great U.S. based bands on our roster that we needed this to happen for all of us. This tour run is a celebration of our growing U.S. presence, which we hope will keep continue to grow,” Fiore further explained in the press release. “We’re also very happy to have Red Fang as guests, headlining in two of the cities. We hope music fans will come out, support and enjoy these very special shows!”
The first show at The House of Machines will feature Red Fang, Nebula, Yawning Man, Fatso Jetson, Duel and House of Broken Promises. The next show at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco will feature Red Fang, Duel and Yawning Man once again, with performances by The Freeks and Glitter Wizard.
Mothership, Duel, Ecstatic Vision, Crypt Trip, Wo Fat and Heavy Temple will join together on the tour stop at Lola’s in Dallas Texas. All of these bands will join Crypt Trip and Greenbeard for the Lost Well edition, in Austin, Texas.
Red Fang wrapped up winter tour last year, going across 16 different shows across the US, with two performances in their native Portland, Oregon. Earlier in 2018 they released a hard rock cover of the classic Gary Numan’s Tubeway Army hit “Listen to The Sirens.”
Yawning Man released an album entitled The Revolt Against Tired Noises, last year their fourth studio album overall. According to mxdwn’s Jon Weigell: “Overall, the album had a rocky start but it ended up delivering quality stoner rock psychedelics in the last four tracks. Yawning Man should be proud of a solid effort that grows with each additional track.”
