Founded in Detroit in March of 1969, CREEM Magazine was a notorious rock ‘n’ roll publication, “a champion of the original underground youth counterculture movment and punk scene.” Calling itsellf “Amercia’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll Magazine,” CREEM Magazine followed and wrote about many legendary rock bands such as; Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, Motely Crue and many more over twenty years.
It’s been nearly five decades since it’s first publication and with SXSW approaching, CREEEM Magazine is teaming up with LEVITATION to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the magazine. LEVITATION, formerly known as Austin Pysch Fest then renamed in honor of Austin’s pyschedelic rock pioneers, The 13th Floor Elevators, along with CREEM Magazine are bringing in over 50 rock artists from around the world to invade Hotel Vegas as CREEM Magazine Presents: LEVITATION SXSW 2019 and “the best damn party at SXSW 2019.”
CREEM Magazine Presents: LEVITATION SXSW 2019 will take place Thursday March 14th at Hotel Vegas and will feature a free day party and an offical SXSW showcase. The day party kicks off at 2 pm and end at 7 pm. It will be free to everyone as long as you RSVP which can be done here.
Some of the bands will be appearing during the day party will be Frankie & The Witch Fingers from Los Angeles, whom over the last five years have been “mutating and perfecting their high-powered rock ‘n’ roll sound,” Warm Drag, a two person band also from Los Angeles, are described as “the soundtrack to the best night of your life,” and Ohtis, a folk band will take you on journey through their lyrics covering the struggles of drug addiction. These bands and many more will hit the stage at Hotel Vegas.
The Official SXSW Showcase will begin at 7 pm and run until 2 am. SXSW badges and music wristbands will have priority access to the Official showcase but will be open to the public for a $10 cover after SXSW badges and music wristbands have gone in. Both general public and SXSW credential holders will need to RSVP which can be done here.
