Do512 + Covert Curiousity Present Strange Brew VIII

If you’re from Austin then you’re sure to recognize the two presenters of Strange Brew, Do512 part of the DoStuff Media who are responsible for informing locals the activities that are going on in Austin and Covert Curiousity who was founded in 2006 and was “one of the first music blogs based in Austin.” Covert Curiousity eventually grew into event production, booking, artist management and also regularly present events in Austin music venues.  The past several years at SXSW, Do521 and Covert Curiousity have teamed up to bring you their showcase Strange Brew or as they call it “The Best Monday of the Year,” and this year is no different as they are back with Strange Brew VIII.

Strange Brew VIII will take over Hotel Vegas on Monday March 11th bringing at least 2 dozen acts of live music.  This all day affair at this year’s Strange Brew will feature; Paul Cherry, a band from Chicago that mixes the sounds of Jazz and pop together where his lyrics touch upon modern age and phone culture, Sharkmuffin, a New York/New Jersey trio that are described as a “Brooklyn garage noise pop,” and describe themselves as a “Garage Punk Glam Grunge” that also are hot sauce lovers, and Big Joanie, a trio based in London who are described as a black feminist punk band who were formed to “make powerful music but also to create a continuum for black punks by presenting a strong, powerful vision of black womanhood and talking about black punks who came before us.” Strange Brew is sure to bring a diverse sound to appeal to anyone that joins them at Hotel Vegas.

Strange Brew VIII Monday March 11th at Hotel Vegas located at 1502 E. 6th St.

Strange Brew VIII is a 21 and over event and free to the public.  RSVP is not needed but if you RSVP here, you enter a chance to win guaranteed entry plus a bar tab (you had me at bar tab).  With some words of advice from the folks over at Do512, “prepare your body for an all-day party full of live music from early afternoon ’til late, late, late in the night,” as the music kicks off at 2 pm and will keep going until 2 am. The kick off of SXSW music week starts Monday March 11th at Hotel Vegas at Strange Brew VIII.
