The trio TEEN has released the third single for their upcoming album, a track titled “Pretend.” The song is slated to appear on the group’s Good Fruit album, set to be released on March 1st. TEEN is made up of three sisters, Katherine, Lizzie and Teeny Lieberson. The trio began making full length albums together in 2012, when they released their debut project, In Limbo. In 2012 they were also named mxdwn’s first-ever Best New Artist of the Year. Since then the group released three more albums, most recently Love Yes in 2016.
TEEN is most well known for their track “All The Same” in 2014. Now the sisters are set to release their fifth studio album, an emotional project about the loss of love. Prior to this single, the group had released the singles “Only Water” and “Runner.” All of the tracks so far have related to the themes of heartbreak and moving forward, with “Pretend” sticking to that trend.
Alongside the release of the single, TEEN also put out a music video for “Pretend.” In the video, the sisters are riding through the countryside in the back of a truck, singing along to the melodic track. The vocals on the song are amazing, featuring all three of the sisters giving some of their best performances to date. Lyrically, the song tackles the issue of accepting the loss of love in a relationship. The song is the most somber of the singles released so far, featuring much slower and calmer instrumentals than the other tracks.
The piano driven production on “Pretend” is easily one of the most beautiful compositions released in 2019 so far. If all of the songs on Good Fruit are as good as the ones released so far, it is sure to be one of the group’s best projects so far. The music video for “Pretend” can be found below.
