Prognosis Festival Announces 2019 Lineup Featuring Devin Townsend, Witchcraft and Tesseract

The Prognosis Festival is set to arrive in Eindhoven, Netherlands and it will be like no other festival you’ve been to. The live event will kick off on March 22 and 23 at the iconic venue “Effenaar” in central Eindhoven.

Prognosis is said to be all about innovation and the city of Eindhoven is the perfect location to host this kind of event with its attention to art and industry. The headliners of the event will include Haken and Leprous on Friday, March 22, while Tesseract, Witchcraft and Devin Townsend will headline the event on Saturday, March 23. Other artists set to perform are Soen, The Gathering, Wheel, Cog, Nosound and Golden Caves.

Prognosis festival is not just a music event on stage, but there’s so much more behind the scenes action that will be taking place off-stage. On March 22, there will be a Prog Conference, a first of its kind in the Netherlands. The café area surrounds Effenaar Eindhoven will be revamped into a live art gallery with works by Travis Smith, a graphic design artist known for creating cover art material for artists like Devin Townsend, Nevermore, Opeth, CKY, and King Diamond. His art will also be available for purchase.

One of the artists set to perform is Devin Townsend, who just recently announced the completion of his new album, EMPATH, and the release date for it. This new album is a product of work in a year and a half and is said to hold more artistic freedom and creativity than previous material. He didn’t want to sell out to what the music industry or his fellow musicians were telling him to make. Townsend is said to deliver snippets of his new album at the festival.

Just last year, the metal band known as Haken put out a seven-track studio album entitled Vector. One of the tracks off the album, “Veil,” holds a record for one of their longer tracks, stretching out to 13 minutes. Overall, the album has a lot of silent moments with no lyrics, but the emphasis on the instrumental aspects of the track. How the band will perform this new material is one to anticipate.

Tickets for the event are available on the Prognosis Festival website, including offers of single-day tickets or a combined ticket for both days.

I want to take my writing and report on stories within the LGBTQ+ and Latinx community. In terms of music, play me a smooth jazz tune, an upbeat pop song, or an unheard indie artist and I'm sure I'll become infatuated by the music. I am always here to share someone else's story, to uplift a voice in any community.
