Basilica Block Party Announced 2019 Lineup Including Chvrches, Metric and Dawes

The Minneapolis Basilica Block Party will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with the most thrilling lineup to date, according to their website. The lineup spans across different genres, including alternative rock, pop, country and even folk music. The two-day event will take place on July 12 and July 13th at the Basilica of Saint Mary grounds in downtown Minneapolis.

The block party has hosted a number of well-known artists in the music industry over the past two and a half decades, including the likes of Panic! at the Disco, Imagine Dragons, Weezer, Jenny Lewis, Walk the Moon, Andy Grammar and The Shins. This year, the event is proud to have Grammy Award-winning artist Kacey Musgraves, Anderson East and Jason Mraz perform on the Great Clips Stage, while CHVRCHES, Semisonic, and Metric take the PreferredOne Stage.

Country pop star Kacey Musgraves has been making tremendous strides in the music industry this past year with the release of her album Golden Hour. Just over the weekend, Musgraves made an impression on the Grammys stage from having a minimalist performance of just her and her piano player on the golden piano to winning the Best Country Album. And not to mention, Musgraves took the title for Album of the Year with Golden Hour, a staple award for the show and milestone in any artist’s career.

The Scottish alternative-pop band CHVRCHES has also had a successful year. After releasing their album Love is Dead last year, the band had released an EP entitled Hansa Session which honored five songs from their latest record and had them recorded live for listeners to enjoy.

Rock enthusiasts Metric released their latest studio album, Art of Doubt, in the fall of last year and it’s full of fast-paced, high energy tunes with a mix of indie rock and synthpop genres. The catchy hooks and rapid beats are the perfect songs to dance to, along with raw emotions flowing out of the lyrics.

General admission ticket prices start out at $60 for single-day passes and $110 for a two-day pass. On top of that, there are other special packages, like the Fanzone, Block Star, Block Legend and Hall of Fame packages. Tickets are already on sale and you can purchase them at https://www.basilicablockparty.org.

I want to take my writing and report on stories within the LGBTQ+ and Latinx community. In terms of music, play me a smooth jazz tune, an upbeat pop song, or an unheard indie artist and I'm sure I'll become infatuated by the music. I am always here to share someone else's story, to uplift a voice in any community.
