St. Vincent Performs A Special Valentine’s Day Set With Collaborator Thomas Bartlett

St. Vincent has been keeping herself busy after her presence at this year’s 61st Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony. From winning Best Rock Song for “MASSEDUCTION” to performing a mash-up duet of “MASSEDUCTION” and “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa, the show must go on for the beloved Annie Clark (real name). On Valentines Day, St. Vincent spent her night performing at the Lincoln Center’s scenic Appel Room for an intimate “American Songbook” performance, according to Brooklyn Vegan.

On that night, St. Vincent was accompanied by Thomas Bartlett, a prominent collaborator on the MASSEDUCTION album, on the grand piano. The show was a stripped-down performance, similar to ones they’ve done in the past at BAM and Newport Folk Festival.

The Appel Room is a beautiful room that has large glass windows that look over Columbus Circle and Central Park in New York City. St.Vincent herself had to stop and take a few moments to admire and comment on the view throughout her set. She would even take a few moments to banter with Bartlett in between songs, often going on a random tangent on anything off the top of her head.

Overall, the performance stretched out to be 90 minutes in total, with the artist performing some newer songs off MASSEDUCTION, such as “Savior,” “Los Ageless” and “Pills;” and she played some older songs off previous records like “Cheerleader” and “Prince Johnny.” She even played a cover of Steely Dan’s “Dirty Work.”

I want to take my writing and report on stories within the LGBTQ+ and Latinx community. In terms of music, play me a smooth jazz tune, an upbeat pop song, or an unheard indie artist and I'm sure I'll become infatuated by the music. I am always here to share someone else's story, to uplift a voice in any community.
