The steady march towards SXSW 2019 continues with another lineup announcement, this being the fifth round of new showcasing artists. The festival takes place Monday, March 11 until Sunday March 17, 2019.
This round features several scene veterans, adding a bit of star power to the music industry’s biggest gathering. Exprimental pop artist Zola Jesus will be appearing in Austin this March. She’s fresh off of yet another stellar album release, 2017’s Okavi. That album included singles like “Siphon,” “Exhumed” and “Soak,” the third in that list making our Best Songs of 2017 list (#15) and Okavi coming in at #12 on our Best Albums list for that year.
Also performing is Nothing, the Philadelphia rock band with some heavy shoegaze tendencies. They released a new album last year, Dance on the Blacktop. “Blue Line Baby” was one of the singles released from that album, which came after singer Dominic Polermo was viciously attacked in Oakland, which left him with a diagnosis of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
Recently reunited Midwestern emo darlings The Get Up Kids will be making their way down to SXSW in 2019. They’ll also be joined by Questlove of The Roots, Cautious Clay, Southern hard rock band Royal Thunder, New Jersey rap-punk band Ho99o9 and Los Angeles’ Sasami – who’s releasing her Domino debut in March. In addition to these more established acts, around 90 other performers have been announced as part of the lineup.
