Janelle Monae wowed the crowd this year’s Grammy Awards with her electrifying performance of “Make Me Feel.” The singer-songwriter, who had two nominations herself, incorporated parts of “Django Jane” into her “Make Me Feel” segment, which saw the stage transform into a pink-themed, robotic, visual spectacle.
She started her performance standing stationary and rising from under the stage under a spotlight with her guitar, channeling pop-icon Prince, but she picked up her show’s pace together with her supporting cast of dancers, who were donning pants from her “PYNK” music video. She finally ended her energetic and hit performance in the middle of the stage surrounded by trumpeters and guitarists. Check out Monae’s outstanding Grammy performance here:

Monae was nominated for Album of the Year for Dirty Computer and Best Music Video for “PYNK,” which she lost to Childish Gambino’s “This Is America.” According to BrooklynVegan, Monae dedicated both her nominations to trans people all over the world. She stated that the nominations were “for them”, as they are “shunned from these sorts of events.”
