Pop singer Kimbra has released a music video for her song “Lightyears” in support of the new remix of the song. The remix comes from collaboration with producer Chris Tabron, who worked with Kimbra on the track. Kimbra is a singer from New Zealand, who gained global fame after the success of the song “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye, which she was featured on. The track won Kimbra two Grammy Awards in 2013 and fueled her career. Since then, the singer has released two more full length albums. Her most recent was the 2018 project Primal Heart, which first featured “Lightyears.”
The video for “Lightyears” features scenes of kimbra performing at a miniature drive in theatre, complete with tiny cars and decorations around the set. On the screen at the drive in, Kimbra is seen dancing to the track in a variety of futuristic outfits. The wardrobe choices for the video are meant to mimic the futuristic and science fiction influences of the song itself. “Lightyears” has a glittery pop sound that fans of Kimbra’s music have come to know, along with the powerful production and mixing of Chris Tabron. The song was one of the more popular off the Primal Heart album, along with the tracks “Everybody Knows” and “Top of The World.” The album in general was one of Kimbra’s best received musical projects and helped further her career.
Aside from her musical career, Kimbra has spent her time working on her acting career. Later this year the singer will have a role in an upcoming film from New Zealand titled “Daffodils.” Her role in the film is the most recent example of the artist branching out and showing her skill at other forms of media.
