Big Boi Shares Two New Songs “Doin’ It” Featuring Sleepy Brown and “Return of the Dope Boi” Featuring Killer Mike and Backbone

Big Boi releases two songs, “Doin’ It” featuring Sleepy Brown & “Return of the Dope Boi” featuring Killer Mike & Backbone. Big Boi is ready to ignite the stage at Super Bowl LIII with Maroon 5 & Travis Scott, blurring the lines between genres and styles and delivering a blockbuster moment for the culture.

The track starts with piano before lyrics break in, “You can do it, you can do it. I woke up on the right side of the bed.” The song swings from Big Boi to Sleepy Brown where the song mixes the styles, hip beat and track overlays. You can definitely jam out with this fresh new track.

“Return of the Dope Boi” starts out with a frenetic beat with vocals mixing in a hard style. Marking a reunion with Killer Mike, the track showcases a trio of fiery flows as they weave into a dizzying lyrical crossfire. A soulful and slick hook threads together this fittingly big and bold banger. The style between Big Boi and other rappers on the scene is distinct but you’ll have to listen for yourself to appreciate the soulful sounds coming through.

Atlanta indisputably set the pace for modern hip-hop. However, Big Boi set the pace for Atlanta, and by proxy, the culture at large. Big made history as the preeminent spitter of the Dungeon Family and one-half of OutKast. The legendary duo sold 25 million albums and garnered seven GRAMMY® Awards, becoming the first and only hip-hop artist in history to win the GRAMMY® for “Album of the Year” upon release of their 2003 RIAA Diamond-certified Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Big Boi made his introduction as a solo artist in 2010 with Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. It captured #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and Pitchfork’s “100 Best Albums of the Decade ‘So Far’.” Big Boi released his latest album Boomiverse in 2017 and smash single “All Night” which tracked a high-profile Apple Animoji commercial and 40 million streams within a year. The song also hit Top 30 on the pop chart and Top 10 at Rhythmic.ns.

The song “Rabbit’s Revenge”features appearances by Bassnectar, Big Boi and Killer Mike and is featured in the trailer for The Predator which is being remade by 20th Century Fox.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
