JUNO Awards Announce 2019 Nominations Featuring Metric, Fucked Up, U.S. Girls and Cancer Bats

Canada’s JUNO Awards have announced their 2019 nominees, spanning a wide range of genres to highlight the country’s best music professionals. While pop artists like Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd can claim numerous nominations, there are a wide range of artists that have been nominated for the awards. Metric, Fucked Up, U.S. Girls and Cancer Bats are just a few of the standout performers and songwriters that are up for JUNOs. Also worth note is Destroyer, KEN mode, Voivod,

The group of the year nominees include Metric, Three Days Grace, Chromeo and The Arkells. Interestingly, the awards do have an “international” award, with nominees including all American artists: Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Maroon Five, Post Malone and Travis Scott. In the alternative category is U.S. Girls, Fucked Up, Destroyer, Dizzy and Tokyo Police Club.

The fan choice awards are predictably skewed towards massive hitmakers, including Shawn Mendes, Tory Lanez, The Weeknd and Alessia Cara, but also a relatively-unknown-outside-Canada artist, bülow.
