TEEN Shares New Video for Second Single “Runner” From Upcoming Album Good Fruit

Synthetic-driven pop band TEEN has released a video and single for their next upcoming album. The song, which is titled “Runner,” was released alongside its music video just the other day as a promotion for the album Good Fruit. This is the second single the group has released in support of Good Fruit, with the first being the song “Only Water,” which was debuted at the end of 2018. Good Fruit will serve as a significant point the in group’s career, as it will be their first record to be self-produced.

TEEN began in 2010 as a side project of Teeny Lieberson, whose main focus at the time was her work with the band Here We Go Magic. Soon after beginning work on TEEN, Lieberson invited her sisters Lizzie and Katherine to join her, turning the act into a full fledged band. Since then, TEEN has released three full length albums and carved out a piece of the psychedelic-pop scene for themselves. The band’s most popular track to date was the song “All The Same” from their 2014 album, The Way and Color. The song was a highly atmospheric track that combined synthetic qualities with more grounded instrumentals and vocals. Overall it is an incredibly well made song and a testament to the talent of the Lieberson sisters.

The band’s newest song, “Runner,” is described as a highly emotional cut that focuses on the suffocation of one’s ideas and aspirations that can happen in an unhealthy relationship. The song talks about the desire to run away from relationships and people when one’s own dreams begin to be lost in the commitments of the future. When asked about the track by Billboard, Teeny Lieberson stated that on the song she wanted explore the idea of “what makes someone seemingly difficult?” Referring to being constricted by the view and impression of one’s significant other, Teeny talked about how in her own she has seen men try to force her to be a certain version of herself instead of being who she wants to be. “Runner” and the themes surrounding the song are more proof that the upcoming Good Fruit album is going to be one of the more personal projects for the group.

The music video accompanying the song features the three sisters dancing and running through a variety of different natural landscapes. Moving through forests and cliffs and roads, TEEN displays the themes of entrapment and a need to escape that are present in the track itself. The sisters are wearing matching orange outfits throughout the video and the connection and fun they have as a result of being sisters is highly apparent. The Good Fruit album is set to release on March 1st, and will be accompanied by a tour starting the following week. The full dates for the tour and the music video for “Runner” can be found below.
