Teen Daze Announces New Album Bioluminescence For April 2019 Release

Teen Daze is the stage name for solo musician Jamison Isaak who is set to release his sixth album, Bioluminescence in April 2019. The album is the latest release on Isaak’s own label, FLORA, which has been operating since 2016 and is the home to a variety of Isaak’s projects. The song, “Spring” is one of the tracks from the album. Striking a balance between the digital and the natural has always been one of the main purposes of Isaak.

Bioluminescence was created over the summer of 2018, produced in Isaak’s home studio after a year of collecting samples and field recordings across several continents. Teen Daze says the goal of the project has always been to find a seamless blending of organic sounds and digital ones, of melodies and textures.

According to a recent statement, for every synthesized noise you hear, there is the sound of a rock hitting water; digital synths are paired with the sound of the Pacific Ocean. From there, the tracks were sent to be mixed by Joel Ford (Airbird, Ford & Lopatin), who helped shape the album into its final form, and from there, to be mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri (The Sight Below, Black Knoll Studio).

Teen Daze signed with Lefse Records for the release of full-length album, All of Us Together in 2012, followed quickly by Glacier in 2013. In 2015, Teen Wave released Morning World where the sound shifted from an electronic-driven style with elements of chillwave, house, and ambient to more of an indie pop sound, adding his own vocals.

In March 2018, Teen Daze released Themes for a New Earth, a gorgeous, contemplative counterpart to his previous release, Themes for Dying Earth. Isaak has battled with anxiety and depression and uses it as fuel to create his music. The album is filled with looping melodies and synths that swell and release periodically, making the album feel almost like a lullaby.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
