Mazzy Star Announces Winter 2019 Tour Dates

American alternative rock band Mazzy Star has announced a few upcoming tour dates for the early months of 2019. This announcement may excite fans as the band recently released an EP and been lightly touring in the past year, following a long hiatus and the death of longtime drummer Keith Mitchell.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, the band will begin their short tour in California in downtown Oakland’s Fox Theater on February 24th and then take a trip to Los Angeles and perform two shows at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church on the 26th and 27th. This West Coast tour then makes its way down to Mexico City for Festival Nrmal on March 2nd alongside bands like Spiritualized, Death Grips and more.

In 2018, Mazzy Star released new music under the EP entitled Still, a four-track record that included three new songs and an alternate ascended version of a previous track “So Tonight That I Might See.” This extended play was a follow up to their 2013 fourth studio album Seasons of Your Day, a reunion album after 17 years of hiatus.

In that same year, the band also performed in the U.S. for this first time in five years and it was the second performance they’ve done since the passing of Mitchell at the Tropicalia Festival. The band was well received by the crowd, getting to play an hour-long set and classics amongst their discography.

This new year could be the beginning of Mazzy Star releasing new music consistently. Fans will just have to wait and see what the rock band will pull underneath their sleeves.

I want to take my writing and report on stories within the LGBTQ+ and Latinx community. In terms of music, play me a smooth jazz tune, an upbeat pop song, or an unheard indie artist and I'm sure I'll become infatuated by the music. I am always here to share someone else's story, to uplift a voice in any community.
