Bad Suns Live at The Echo, Los Angeles

Bad Suns played an incredibly energetic and fun show at The Echo Thursday night. Tickets were $5 at the door until they sold out. The secret show was in support of their latest album, Mystic Truth, which will be released in March. The venue was packed despite the location being announced the day of the show, adna the crowd danced nonstop to a series of bangers throughout the night. They performed “Swimming in the Moonlight,” “Violet” and “Sleep Paralysis,” with Christo crowd surfing during the latter. “This Was a Home Once” was introduced as a “song about growing up” and performed with great intensity as the venue was washed in orange light.

“I wrote this next song as a present to my girlfriend on her 20th birthday,” prefaced the Los Angeles-based group’s song “20 Years.” After the song, Christo announced that their new album, Mystic Truth, would be released in March, and they wanted to play some new songs from it because they couldn’t wait anymore. This led us into “Hold Your Fire,” a straight banger that will be released the following Monday. They went into another new song that was described as “about one magic moment.” The crowd ate up the new songs despite not knowing the lyrics. The crowd gave so much love and received so much of it back from the band. Christo said how much fun he was having several times and thanked everyone for being “fucking awesome and the greatest crowd.”

They went back to the hits and performed “Pretend,” “Off She Goes,” “Heartbreaker” and “Transpose.” They then played one more new song, “The World and I,” and then went into “Rearview.” For “Salt,” Christo pumped up the crowd by yelling “you guys ready to fucking dance or what!” and the whole crowd jumped up and down. “Disappear Here” was a beautifully warm moment, dozens of people dancing and all connected with a shared love of music. The great set was finished off with performances of “Dancing on Quicksand” and “Cardiac Arrest.” Their Mystic Truth tour was also announced, with a note that tickets would be available tomorrow and to catch them at The Wiltern May 11th. The show was seamless and every song transitioned into the next one beautifully. Bad Suns have amazing stage presence, and fans should be excited for the next show.
