SWMRS announced a massive North American headline tour today in support of their forthcoming album Berkeley’s On Fire that kicked off on March 28 in San Diego, CA and will wrap on May 3 in Los Angeles, CA. SWMRS is comprised of Cole Becker (vocals/guitar), Max Becker (vocals/guitar), Joey Armstrong (drums), and Seb Mueller (bass).
The Regrettes recently wrapped an opening slot for twenty one pilots’ Bandito tour’s European leg. The act returned to the states to support SWMRS current spring tour, but they’re announcing they won’t be continuing due to frontwoman Lydia Night’s need for vocal rest.
The news comes shortly after the band was unable to perform in Albuquerque Saturday, which was the third date of the run. The band released a statement, “It pains us to say this, but we will not be continuing on tour with SWMRS. I have struggled in the past with my vocal health and these past few days have been super rough. After going to the doctor, the decision was made that I need to go on vocal rest. Playing shows right now is really not what’s best for my health. We WILL be coming back for all of you this year and I’m gonna take this time to properly recover and recharge, prep this new album for you all, and give you the greatest show we possibly can. We love you all so much and can’t even begin to express our gratitude for all of the love you’ve shown us. We wish SWMRS an incredible rest of tour. We are refunding tickets for our headline shows in DC and Dallas, however we aren’t able to refund any others. The Regrettes released version of Queen’s, “Don’t Stop Me Now” recently. The band has been busy after releasing their debut album Feel You Feelings Fool. Last February they released a follow up in the form of an EP called Attention Seeker, participated in a “HamilDrop” with their song “Helpless,” released yet another single called “California Friends” and gave their take on the Kavanaugh debacle with “Poor Boy.”
SWMRS released their debut album Drive North in 2016 via their own Uncool Records before signing with Fueled By Ramen (Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore) who later re-released it. Drive North was praised by outlets including Rolling Stone, Noisey, Buzzfeed, and Billboard, and saw the band make their network television debut on CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden.
SWMRS toured extensively in support of the album, and joined bands including FIDLAR, Wavves, Blink 182, Green Day, and All Time Low on stages around the world. Drive North has blared through hometown games of the Oakland A’s and San Jose Earthquakes, and through Saint Laurent’s runway during Paris Fashion Week.
“April in Houston” is currently #29 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and was the most added song at alternative radio the week of its release. “April In Houston” is available to stream and download now HERE. Prior to the announcement of the album, SWMRS shared track “Berkeley’s On Fire”. Fans who pre-order the album now will receive immediate downloads of both songs.
Prior to their North American tour, SWMRS will embark on tour of Europe and the United Kingdom that will kick off on February 23rd in Barcelona, Spain and wrap on March 16th in London, United Kingdom.
