Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain Granted Permanent Restraining Order Against Former Manager Sam Lutfi

Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain have been granted a five year permanent restraining order (PRO) against former manager Sam Lutfi. In part because the judge recalled the legal issues he faced when he was the manager for pop star Britney Spears, the ruling was particularly strict. At five years, this PRO was two years longer than the typical one, Rolling Stone reports.

The ruling was initially reported by the Blast and confirmed by Rolling Stone. It’s also reported that Love had been granted a temporary restraining order against Lutfi in December 2018. She alleges harassing phone calls, texts and emails as part of the basis for the request for a restraining order. Also included in the restraining order is Love’s sister, Jamie.

The restraining order instructs Lutfi to stay 100 feet away from the three women, cannot make any attempt to contact them and cannot make remarks about them on social media.

Lutfi of course is famous for his role in the mental issues that teen pop star Britney Spears faced in the late ’00s. In fact, Spears and her father were granted a restraining order against the same man in 2009. At the time, the Spears’ alleged Lutfi was conspiring to take over the singer’s substantial fortune.

Lutfi then became the manager for the Cobains in 2012, according to Jezebel. He was named in the lawsuit filed by Frances Bean’s ex-husband Isaiah Silva, who alleged he was a victim of a kidnapping scheme to retrieve a guitar owned and used by Kurt Cobain.
