D’Angelo’ Releases Contribution to the Red Dead Redemption 2 Soundtrack “Unshaken”

One of the most exciting peripheral pieces of news to the long-awaited release of video game Red Dead Redemption 2 is its surprisingly killer and eclectic soundtrack. One of the most intriguing performances came care of R&B icon D’Angelo, who contributed the song “Unshaken.”

Today, you can finally listen to the song anywhere on the internet. The song has a definitely southwestern influence, with fingerpicked guitar figures and a pulsating Latin rhythm. D’Angelo does his part, singing with a low gravely tone that altogether sensual at the same time.

There have been plenty of other pieces of music from the soundtrack released over the last few months. In December, Daniel Lanoi and Rhiannon Giddens performed music from the game at the Game Awards 2018. Josh Homme released new song from the soundtrack “Cruel World.” And later this year in Los Angeles, the Red Bull Music Festival will host one show of music from the game.

Red Dead Redemption topped mxdwn Games’ 2018 best games list, with Zachary Dalton praising the game for its ability to make “an open world feel like an actual living world” and well-placed story beats. Not only has the game been critical success and offered gamers one of the most immersive experiences in gaming history, it’s also sold well. According to the most recent NPD numbers for November, it was one of the year’s best selling game after just a few months.
