Don’t expect Cardi B to be appear in the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The female rap sensation has reportedly turned down the opportunity to make an appearance during the half-time show with main act Maroon 5. She has apparently removed her name from being considered not because of a money dispute, despite many reports, but in support of Colin Kaepernick. Cardi B has been a long time supporter of Kaepernick, shouting him out at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. Shortly before introducing Demi Lovato at the Awards Show, she said “Colin Kaepernick, as long as you kneel with us, we’re gonna be standing for you, baby. That’s right, I said it.” The rapper recently performed at the annual hip-hop festival Rolling Loud, alongside Lil Wayne, Post Malone, SOB X RBE, and Wiz Khalifa. During her set, ex-boyfriend and Migos member Offset crashed her performance asking for reconciliation, appearing with a bouquet of white roses with signage that read “Take Me Back, Cardi.”
Since she no longer being considered, fellow rapper Travis Scott has been asked to perform and surprisingly agreed to do it. Scott has received much backlash for accepting the offer from fans including Jay-Z and Meek Mill. Hov recently attended Scott’s show in Los Angeles with wife Beyonce and reportedly attempted to talk Scott out of performing. He has also been a long time supporter of Kaepernick and has also turned down the opportunity to grace the world-renowned stage in 2017. Meek Mill also spoke out about Scott performing by retweeting an article from Complex stating that Scott is set to perform to which Mill responded with “For what????” He added an additional tweet saying “He don’t need that he on fire already! Stay strong in this shit!”
The Super Bowl will take place on February 3, 2019, in Atlanta, GA at the Mercedes Benz-Stadium. With it only being a month away, viewers will be in for a surprise as to who might join alongside Maroon 5 if Scott declines.
