Netherlands’ Woohah festival has announced its headliners for its upcoming 2019 event. The festival, which is held annually outside of Tilburg, has been bringing world class performers to the Netherlands since 2014. Previous main acts at the festival have included Chance the Rapper, Tyler, the Creator and Post Malone. This year, Woohah will bring Travis Scott and Brockhampton to its stages, both having had their largest commercial years so far in 2018. Travis Scott’s newest album, Astroworld, was by far his largest selling album and spawned the massive hit “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake. Brockhampton, one of the fastest growing hip-hop groups, debuted their most recent album at number one of the Billboard Top 200 chart. Selling 100,000 copies its first week, Iridescence was their largest debut yet. This upcoming July, Woohah will bring these artists and many others to the Bekse Bergen events center.
Travis Scott is one of the largest names in hip-hop right now due to his commercial success with the album Astroworld. Before this, however, Scott proved himself with hits such as “Goosebumps” and “Antidote.” The song “Goosebumps” was released with his 2016 album, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, and became one of the largest hits of the year. “Goosebumps” quickly solidified Travis Scott’s place as one of the most popular rappers right now, and his success has only grown with Astroworld. Since the release of the album, Scott has been on his Astroworld tour and held a one-day festival in Houston of the same name. His performance at the Woohah festival is sure to be one of the largest events of the weekend.
Hip-hop boy band Brockhampton has been one of the fastest growing groups in popularity this year. After releasing three albums in 2017, Brockhampton proved themselves as one of the most innovative and refreshing groups in rap music. The albums, titled Saturation I, II and III, fused together the artistics styles of the different members and created a very unique sound. The frontman of the group is rapper Kevin Abstract, who helped form the boy band with friends from his childhood and those he met online. After converging together, the group began working on their music full time. Soon afterwards, they would go on to make the Saturation trilogy, and gain a massive following. This year the group slowed down their output after a series of scandals involving former member Ameer Vann and deciding to sign with label RCA. Their long awaited album came in September in the form of Iridescence, and their fan base supported it enough to get the group its first number one placement on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. They are sure to have one of the most energetic performances at Woohah.
Another notable performer at the upcoming Woohah festival is British rapper and singer Little Simz. At 24 years old she has already proven herself as one of the most soulful voices around, previously attending Woohah in 2016. In 2017, her album Stillness in Wonderland brought fans songs like “Backseat,” which proved Little Simz as one of the more talented rappers in the UK right now. Overall, the Woohah festival 2019 is going to deliver fans an amazing weekend.
