The Newport Folk Festival is scheduled to take place on July 26-28, 2019 in Newport, Rhode Island. Fort Adams is located in one of the park’s national treasures, situated at the mouth of Newport Harbor with panoramic views. The festival features four stages of music, food, two beer & wine gardens and a number of displays.
Currently, the festival lineup includes Jeff Tweedy, Mountain Man, Haley Heynderickx, Bonny Light Horseman, If I Had A Song, Todd Snider, Sheryl Crow, Maggie Rogers, Portugal The Man, Phil Lesh, Kacey Musgraves, Hozier and more. The festival is now sold out but tickets are available on a ticket exchange system. Newport Folk is partnering with Lyte to provide a hassle-free, safe way to exchange tickets.

Jeff Tweedy from Wilco just released new song titled “I Know What It’s Like” from his album WARM which was released on Friday, November 30th by dBpm. Tweedy is set for his 2019 tour with four sold out shows in Los Angeles starting January 3, 2019. Tweedy also collaborated with Norah Jones in a dreamy, melodic track titled, “A Song With No Name” with Jones on vocals, acoustic guitar and piano and Tweedy on acoustic and electric guitar.
The band Mountain Man include the trio made up of Amelia Randall Meath, Molly Erin Sarlé and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig. They released their second album Magic Ship on September 21 which includes 14 tracks. Mountain Man have exceptional control of their rhythm, cadence and audio to make each song a pleasant listen. Their harmonic vocals make you feel like you’re floating on a literal Magic Ship through the atmosphere.
The 2018 festival took place on July 27-29 at Fort Adams State Park and was its 35th festival. It included a dynamic list of artists including Courtney Barnett, Sturgill Simpson, Passenger, The War and Treaty, Darlingside, Fantastic Negrito, Gary Clark Jr. and many more.
Newport Festival is one of the first modern music festivals in America, which first started in 1959 by George Wein and Albert Grossman. The festival saw some of the best performers of the time such as Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger and the Kingston Trio and throughout the sixties experienced success until it was cancelled in 1970 and did not make a return until 1985.
