What better way to experience a music festival then to sail with Belle & Sebastian and other amazing bands on The Norwegian Jade luxury liner for five days. The festival is deemed “The Boaty Weekender” and guests can expect to float for five days from Barcelona, Spain to Cagliari, Sardinia then back to Barcelona. Tickets start at $822.00 USD and up, plus $184.00 in taxes and fees for a state room on the luxury liner. This amazing trip will take place on August 8 – 12, 2019 aboard The Norwegian Jade, featuring four nights of music across five stages, all curated by Belle & Sebastian.

Some of the bands set to perform include: Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Camera Obscura, Teenage Fanclub, Django Django, Alvvays, Buzzcocks, Japanese Breakfast, Honeyblood, Hinds, Kelly Lee Owens, Nilufer Yanya, Whyte Horses, Tracyanne & Danny and more to join this festive lineup. Although the Buzzcocks are set to play, the lead singer Pete Shelley who also co-founded the band recently passed away.

Belle & Sebastian shared the following, “We want to do it right. Let’s have yoga and cocktails and club nights and themed balls and crèches and quizzes and scrabble tournaments – and gigs. Gigs upon gigs from some of our good friends and favourite acts in rock ‘n’ roll on five stages throughout the ship – and instead of stumbling home to a damp tent in a dark field, saunter back to the comfort of a clean bed in your own stateroom on a luxury liner.”

They further state, “So what else can you expect from The Boaty Weekender? How about two unique performances from Belle & Sebastian, a live Q&A with the band, activities with each of us – and if you reserve your stateroom fast enough, some neat extras…Don’t you fancy joining us on this floating festival with fellow fans? This party we’re throwing just won’t be the same without you. Let it be so. No checkout, and breakfast runs till two.”

If you reserve a cabin during the pre-sale, you’ll get an “exclusive cruise vinyl.” Also, if you’re one of the first 350 to book a cabin, you can attend a performance of Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant – an album Belle & Sebastian have never before performed in full.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
