NYC-based punk band Sick of It All and Virginia-based thrash band Iron Reagan have announced their joint Southeastern U.S. tour for March 2019. According to The PRP, this tour will be a promotion for the album Sick of It All released in November called Wake The Sleeping Dragon! and the EP Iron Reagan released in October called Dark Days Ahead.
Wake The Sleeping Dragon is full of traditional and hardcore punk tracks that Sick Of It All has been delivering for years. The album is also relatively short with it only being a little over thirty minutes long, but each track serves a meaningful purpose. The title track for this album encompasses the project in all its glory, having a message of living free and rebelling against a regime – a core to punk ethos and a message relevant to the current political climate. In the track “Work the System,” the lyrics discuss the inequalities between those dependent on welfare and the affluent CEOs that exploit members of the working class – a political statement in itself.
The Dark Days Ahead EP has an overwhelmingly political stance on our current political climate as well, as if the title doesn’t express their stance from the gecko. This eight-minute EP has five title tracks that attempt to get this message across. The track “Patronizer” serves as the longest track on the EP at over two minutes long and a direct critique against the Trump administration.
