Washington D.C. songwriter and musician Citizen Cope recently released details about an upcoming tour next spring. The will start at Franklin Music Hall, formerly known as the Electric Factory on March 1st at 8:30 PM. The announcement of the tour closely follows the official announcement of Cope’s next upcoming album. Just over a week ago, he stated that the album would be called Heroin and Helicopters, and is expected to come out the same day his tour kicks off here in Philly, March 1st.
Along with the announcement of Heroin and Helicopters, Cope put out his first single off of the project “Justice”. The track is already picking up heavy traffic, as Cope continues to blend soul and new age rock into his unique and impressive sound. If the track is any indication of the rest of next year’s album, Cope continues to grow not only as a musician but a producer as well, allowing him to more completely formulate the heavy emotion portrayed by his work. When it finally comes out, it will mark 7 years since Cope’s last project One Lovely Day which came out all the way back in 2012.
Joining Citizen Cope in Philly and the first half of the tour will be Austin musician David Ramirez. Ramirez most recently put out his fourth album We’re Not Going Anywhere which debuted late last year. Ramirez found a home in the tiny town of Parsonsfield, Maine to work on the project, which turned out to be his most complete yet.
