Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Grayson Erhard recently released a five song EP titled EARTHSHIP. The album is an eclectic offering with songs that touch on everything from folk to hard rock, all through the lens of his masterful guitar playing. Today, we’re excited to premiere a video for the last song on that EP, a richly-arranged acoustic-rock number called “Introvert.”
The subject matter of the song and the video are fairly simple, addressing the struggles of another person who is an introvert and struggles in social situations. “‘Introvert’ is a reflection of the internal struggles of an introvert, outlining battles with constant bombardment of social situations and wanting to get back to solitude, but ultimately becoming comfortable in one’s own skin,” said Erhard about the song. “Personally, it’s a musical observation of what I see living with and loving an introvert.”
EARTHSHIP was recorded in Taos, NM in an actual earthship, which is a solar-powered home that allows occupants to essentially live off-the-grid. During these sessions with his co-writer and drummer Bannigrin. In addition to Erhard and Bannigrin, Chris Beeble plays bass on the song. The songs expand on his solo recordings, fleshing them out with full band accompaniment, though stripped-down acoustic versions of each song are also available.
Erhard hails from the remote southern Colorado town of Del Norte and his style of music reflects that hometown’s natural beauty and peace. An extremely technically adept guitarist, he often employs the tap-slap style of percussive guitar playing and adds his emotionally-moving vocals over the top.
